To post a photo, you have to
-upload it to some other website
    - create a link
    - do some shilly-shallying with taggy things, which sometimes works & sometimes does not... This is so 19th century! A TB of storage will hold about a million photos & costs just 80 euro... I'll give you 80 euro tomorrow if that is the problem;) I'd love to be able to just open a post & drag & drop a photo from my PC..Is there any firefox add-on or android app for this? Took a quick look & didnt find one... Thanks! -FoxT

You can just upload it to boards, using the advanced editor. Click Manage Attachments, upload the file, then copy the URL and use the img button

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

    Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/boardsie-enhancement-suite/

    Chrome/Edge/Opera: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/boardsie-enhancement-suit/bbgnmnfagihoohjkofdnofcfmkpdmmce

A TB of storage which is properly backed up and allows you to reliably serve a few thousand files per second, costs a lot more than €80. €80 per week, maybe.

Picture uploading/hosting is probably on the chopping block I'd say. If it were me, one of the long-terms plans would be a button which allows someone to link directly to their own image content on a number of social media and do away with uploading stuff to boards completely.

We're streamlining the process for uploading attachments as the VB system is a bit archaic. The UI and backend work is pretty much done but it will be awhile before we're able to bring it into the main forum system. The next step from that will be to improve how you go about embedding attached images in a post.

Storage and delivery are actually relatively cheap since we host all attachments in S3 these days.

    Cool, thanks. What is S3?

Amazon Simple Storage Solution. Basically it's a big bucket you can throw stuff into.

    http://aws.amazon.com/s3/

Attachments are accessed through our servers so we can apply permissions to them but the files don't actually live on our hardware anymore. Same goes for custom avatars, we have a little server written in NodeJS that looks after turning an address like http://avatar.b-static.net/489703.gif into a gif that could either be on our servers or sitting in S3.
